History:
Character history. & Episode summaries.
Personality:
Will Graham is a man haunted by an overactive imagination with fear as its primary driving force. Complex, hard to understand and unstable, Will describes himself as being like an old mug. He feels worn out and weighed down as neurosis and other contributing factors fill his cup and start to spill over. He's slipping more into lucidity as his condition worsens, but also fading away.
Early in his life Will knew he'd seen and felt things differently; could see things clearer and feel things deeper. He's an observer with a perceptive mind, able to use every sense of his to pick up on details that may be missed. These traits are especially useful, but damaging, when in the remnants of a crime scene. Additionally, Will has a photographic memory that helps him deduce facts from the evidence gathered. One of the more notable, and rarer, talents of Will's is his ability to empathize with people- or as it's commonly referred: as having a kind of "pure empathy." After viewing crime scenes, Will can put himself in a type of trance-like state and enter the mind of both victim and killer to gain insight on how the murder was committed- a design. However, in order to catch the perpetrator they're after, Will often imagines himself as the killer conducting these brutal and often violent acts. Because Will's empathy allows him to view the world from people's points of view, it's often difficult to break a connection once made. It's hard for him to forget the things he's seen, or rather, imagine, in his mind. This is why he is victim to his own talents; one of his greatest fears is that he'll become a killer.
As a child, Will followed his father who traveled to find work in various ports. Never sticking around long enough in one area to keep any lasting relationships, he grew up withdrawn and prefers a solitary life. Will purposely avoids communicating with people and when cornered, will act either uninterested or rude. He also dislikes eye contact because eyes are distracting. "You see too much, you see too little." While uneasy in a speaking proximity of others, Will doesn't seem to have a problem being surrounded in large groups- as long as he's at a safe distance. Before he was asked to go back and work in the field, Will was teaching as an educator at the FBI Academy. When asked why he liked lecturing, he stated that it was because he was talking at people and not to them.
Most people who know about Will would find him an interesting person and he hates that attention. Because he approaches investigations differently, Will believes that people see him as someone who requires special treatment and just wants to be respected the same way as his fellow colleagues.
Even though Will is normally distant toward people, he does gradually open himself up to those he feels he can trust, and trust is something that doesn't come easily to him. He's loyal, as seen when Jack Crawford's wife is diagnosed with cancer and he sits besides Jack and says he'll stay with him until however long it takes for him to talk. He sympathizes, as seen with Abigail when he saved her life, saw it shatter, and tries to help her mend the broken pieces of her life. He also cares. Despite Will's feelings toward not being able to relate with most people, he often feels he understands them too well. Another thing about will is that he's an animal lover and prefers their company over people. Animals have something people don't, the ability to love unconditionally. Currently, Will owns six dogs that he found and rescued from the streets. In addition to his dogs, Will also finds comfort in nature, and the things he did as a child. These include; working on boat motors, and making fishing lures.
An interesting thing about Will is his personality disorder. He has said himself that his disorder is placed somewhere on the spectrum of Autism and Aspergers, and not Narcism or Sociopathy on account of his ability to empathize with serial killers. Two reasons why he believes he fits in with the former diagnosis is on account of his good morals and want of helping others. He was listed as unstable when he tried out to be an investigator during an FBI screening process, and has said many times that he knows what kind of crazy he is. He suffers from PTSD after working homicide in New Orleans and felt he would do better talking about crime instead of witnessing it, so that's why he goes to work at the academy. Unfortunately, when Will goes back out in the field, the combination of his empathy, personality, and triggering imagery start to take a devastating effect on his mind. It should be noted that Will is suffering from a condition called Encephalitis in which the brain inflames and disorients a person severe headaches, lost time, seizures, and hallucinations.
Even though Will's condition has gradually been getting worse, he has a very stoic approach to his health and acts as if he's fine. He believes that if he focuses on work he can shut out the troubling effects of the Encephalitis which he was led into believing were the symptoms of insanity. Will has a high sense of obligation to do the right thing and save lives. In fact, he seems to put the needs of others before his own.
When Will speaks with people, he often replies with phrases that come off as socially unacceptable. As mentioned previously, he can be rude and there are even times when he comes off as sarcastic. But he hardly ever jokes- at least not in the cheerful sense. In fact, the only time Will ever seems to laugh is when his mental stability is referenced. When being asked questions as to how he's feeling or what he's currently thinking, Will answers in a strangely poetic remark that often comes out in metaphors. When angry, he comes off as cold and speaks in harsh, but honest, words. He's also generally direct. Most times, Will either appears haggard and tired or nervous and weary. He tends to run his hands through his hair, rub his eyes, or do a number of mannerisms with his hands- these are especially noticeable when he's on edge.
Overall, Will is described as unique, complex and hard to understand. Despite many troubling aspects of his skills and instability, Will wants to do good and hopes that by helping others he can somehow help himself.
Abilities/Strengths and Weaknesses:
Will is human and lacks any kind of superhuman ability, so he pretty much can be harmed and killed really easily. He suffers with an overactive imagination fueled by neurosis and also has some mental instability (plus Encephalitis) which has affected him on numerous occasions.
He does, however, excel in a handful of skills which include:
• Criminal profiling. Studying forensic sciences, Will uses a variety of evidence gathered at the crime scene, his intelligence, photographic memory, and "pure empathy" to catch serial killers. And then some.
• Firearms. Will knows how to use, handle, and maintain a variety of handguns. He also frequently visits the firing range for practice. His current shooting technique is the Weaver stance.
• Technology. He's educated in the basic know hows of computers and can operate a good deal of additional machinery in the labs.
• He was raised on water with a father who worked on boats for a living. Therefore, Will also learned to fix boats, particular boat motors. He also enjoys fishing and, in his spare time, creates fish lures.
• Will is an animal whisperer and prefers their company over people. Needless to say, he is really good with them.

Network/Action Spam Sample:
Just your frequent insomnia. & A bad night to be at the movies.
Prose Log Sample:
Two bare feet walk the dirtied path of a dark and hidden forest. A quarter moon sits in the sky and remains partially hidden between rows of trees. Oddly enough, visibility is perfectly clear through the dreary blue-lit woods. There's a cold chill that settles in the air. Wind occasionally stirs, disturbing the trees as their branches sway violently. Will pays no attention to the weather as he walks.
Something moves in the woods next to him. Quiet and soft footed, when Will turns his head he notices a Stag trailing alongside him. He continues walking. Ahead of him now lies the body of a woman. Naked and gored in several places, coagulated blood has formed around the open wounds and shines a bright red, even in the absence of light.
Will walks closer with an inability to stop himself from moving forward. As he approaches, he recognizes her face immediately. It's Abigail. Eyes as wide as a doe's caught in headlights, she stares up with an emotionless expression. Then she blinks.
He jumps back in surprise and notices his hands covered in blood. But there is something behind him now. Expecting to see the stage, when Will turns, he's greeted by a pale, milky-eyed Garet Jacob Hobbs. One moment passes in what could be considered a blink of an eye and then the Shrike turns into the wendigo. Then it speaks.
The words that come out of its mouth are forgotten the moment Will wakes up. Heavy breathing and drenched in a cold sweat, he lies in his bed and waits until his breathing has slowed and his heart has calmed. It's a familiar dream of his, this recurring nightmare. He knows he's asleep every time it happens, but often, when he reminisces, can't help and think of how real everything had felt.
These are just the echoes of the monsters he's gotten to know playing in his head.
